Pledge Description
Emerging environmental issues at the Amazon (microplastics, pelagic Sargassum, planktonic blooms, mining wastes) are of great concern, and conected to changes in the land and river basins. The Biological Oceanography Laboratory and the research group on Microplastics at the Amazon will actively develop research and innovation to understand such impacts, providing tools for the mitigation and adaptation in sinergy with coastal management and policy makers.
Pledge Deliverables
Our objectives are:
- continue to deliver scientific products for the academic audience;
- capacity building and training of undergraduate and graduate students;
- communication outreach and ocean literacy through contact with public schools;
- to increase engagement of stakeholders and policy makers regarding the importance of environmental impacts research, mitigation, and ocean sustainability;
