Pledge Description
The Explorers team educate and inspire primary school children by working on projects with them so as to adopt an understanding of how the ocean impacts us, as well as how we have an impact of the ocean. Children are introduced to the ocean literacy concepts, creating positive actions within their schools and homes to prevent, reduce and recycle marine pollution. This Programme is a case study to stimulate similar initiatives in the Atlantic border countries promoting transatlantic networks.
Pledge Deliverables
The Explorers outreach team will implement actions to prevent, reduce and recycle marine pollution with over 12,000 primary school children throughout Ireland annually. The Explorers team will have also provided professional development training through its courses and workshops for 200 teachers as well 600 student-teachers at 3rd level, annually; so as to increase their marine environmental awareness, knowledge and engagement, promoting and creating ocean champions within primary schools.
